Bias Tape

5 Nov

My Mom-in-law and I were talking about how to make our own bias tape this morning and I thought there must be others out there that have never given it a try, so here is some information for you.  Sometimes it is hard to find just the right color in a manufactured bias tape to give that finished look to your sewing, this PDF from Sew Mama Sew explains just how easy it is to make bias tape.

You don’t always need fancy tools to get great results.  Both of these will save you money and avoid an extra trip to the fabric store.  This first one is from Creative Little Daisy.  She uses a sewing needle to keep her fabric in place, I have also seen it done with safety pins.

And the Scientific Seamstress has a bias tape maker that you can print out and use, very handy.

Happy sewing!

All of those make the process easier. I will keep then. I like the idea for contrasting, too.
