Painting on Fabric

19 Sep

Painting of fabric is a lot of fun.  If you are a painter it is a great way to display your talent and if you just don’t have that gift you can still change a fabric piece using a stencil and some textile paint.  Here are a few examples:  This one is from A Splendid Assemblage.Oleander and Palm gets great results using freezer paper stencils and mixing a fabric medium into their craft paint.  The medium works very well and gives the paint a softer feel after it dries.100 Directions has a new product that they tested,  DecoArt Ink Effects.  You can draw on paper with these special inks and transfer it to fabric.  I haven’t tried it yet, but will be looking for it in my crafts stores.  Lot easier to throw away a mistake on paper than to through the fabric piece away.
